Atlanta

Spent the day in Atlanta yesterday. It was time for Mom's 6 month check up with her Prosthodontist (dentist) and Surgeon. She has been recovering from serious rare sinus cancer for going on 4 years now. That's how I got here to Warner Robins...I was a Medical Assistant for 4 years in Savannah. I quit my job and moved here to take care of her. She seems to be almost 100% cured! But at this appointment she has been having some small problems. The doctors don't think that it is anything but the surgeon took 7 little biopsies from the site with results on Wednesday. Spent alot of time sitting in waiting rooms... the photo is of the prosthodontists waiting room view, It is small with a great view of the street. There is a loveseat in a enclosed front porch that I sit in every time. It's like it is my space! I sit and crochet for an hour or so...get alot done while I wait. The doctors in Atlanta are so nice and have been so good to Mom!

Rained Out Market

So here I sit, at the crack of dawn...(or maybe before... it's dark) Watching the Weather Channel, hoping that the rain wasn't coming. But as I type I hear thunder! The radar is a lovely color of reds and yellows... They say we are going to have a busy weather day..hail, tornadoes, damaging winds! So that means the City Market on the Green is off.
Today is the last weekend of the Cherry Blossom Festival. It runs for 10 days in Macon with all kinds of events. Today was to be the big street fesitval. Our weekley market was to be like a fringe event for both weekends. We had a lot more people last Saturday than we had last winter. I just started the market last November and December when it was nice and freezing! Believe it or not, we had people show up..must have been for all those last minute Christmas presents!
So now it is Spring...and it is raining...maybe I'll go back to bed!

Squirrely

I work at the kitchen table every day! That is where my sewing machine is and technically my "office". There is a bay window that looks out to the side yard. I tell you this because I was working away yesterday and happened to glance out and saw someone looking at me! I went slowly to my camera, had to get it out of the case, went back to the window and snapped a few photos before he got bored and left. Notice how he is standing on the stretcher bar of the fence.
He seems to be watching the cars go by!
It was a pretty cool day!!

The Best Chicken Pot Pie Ever!

Seriously! This is the best chicken pot pie I have ever made!! I got it from my friend Dia in Savannah! You will love it and it is so easy!!

Chicken Pot Pie
2 boneless chicken breast
1 can cream of celery soup (no water)
1 bag mixed vegetables - cooked
chicken bouillon
poultry seasonings
2 deep dish pie crusts
*****************************
Boil chicken breasts in poultry seasonings. Shred cooked chicken into pieces. Lightly brown one of the pie crusts. Mix all other ingredients together. Place into lightly browned crust. Place uncooked pie crust on top of filled pie crust.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Enjoy!

Hit and Miss

So I got back last night from Savannah after a long day of visiting and work. It was an uneventful trip down. Had lunch with a friend, dropped off aprons at Polk's Fresh Market and went to my favorite fabric store to resupply. I left Savannah around 5pm. On ride back I was minding my own business, moving right along the interstate, no traffic, when I looked out the driver's window and there was a goose, heading right toward my window! I ducked! He was so close I could look him right in the eye! All I heard were the feathers on his wing up against the glass as it passed by. I looked out my rear view mirror and saw nothing... no body. So I am hoping that he just kept going and basically winged me! I had passed three or four of his friends hangin out at the tree line moments earlier. I like to think that he is now telling them all about the big gold thingy that jumped out in front of him when he was on his way to dinner! I guess it is all in how you look at it!

Gone International!!

Yippee!! My little Etsy shop has gone international!
Today at 3am I sold my Chili Pepper Man/Chef Apron to someone in Australia! How cool is that?! The shop has only been online since Jan 12, 2009. And to sell something while you are asleep...fabulous!!
The internet is so far reaching. We forget that people are online 24 hours a day! And shopping!! I love it! Can't wait to sell an apron to someone else far away from little ole Georgia!

Cherry Blossom Festival Market

Boy! Am I tired!! We had a good day at the opening of The Cherry Blossom Festival! It was a beautiful sunny day but a little windy. You should see my face. I don't know if it is sunburn or windburn or both! I have lovely Raccoon Eyes from my shades!

There were a lot of people walking through and looking. The City Market on the Green is not officially open until April 4 but we took advantage of the The Cherry Blossom crowd to boost knowledge of our Market. Hopefully they will remember that we are there every Saturday until December 19 (9-1) It wasn't until 11ish that we started to sell! But because of the crowd, most of us decided to stay later than 1. I'm glad I did because I doubled my sales!

Right by the end of our area, at 2pm, there was a Cherry Blossom event - Lawn Mower Racing. They said these guys were professionals... I didn't know it was a sport. It was a little loud. Hard to talk to customers. But at least I had customers!!

Next weekend we do it all again! Hopefully it will be a beautiful spring day again..but this time I will have sunscreen and a hat!!

It's Cherry Blossom Time!

It is Cherry Blossom Time here in Middle Georgia! The Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon starts tomorrow and runs through next weekend! This town is so pretty when all the cherry blossoms are blooming! I planted my Yoshima cherry tree three years ago and cannot believe how big it is!

This how big it was in 2007 when it was a year and a half old! (That's Skippy!)

It is amazing to me how big it has grown in only three years. Now it has not bloomed very much at all. First year one little bloom. Second year three or four blooms only on one side. This year it looks like more are coming but will not cover the whole tree. Maybe next year!

Happy St Patrick's Day

Happy St Patrick's Day to all!!
Hope everyone celebrated with a little green! It was a beautiful day here and although I did not get to go to the parade in Savannah...I was there in spirit!
May the luck of the Irish be with you all the year through!

Wednesday already??

Where has this week gone?! It seems that I have been so busy this week! After a whirlwind day-trip to Savannah, special orders, trips to the post office and an unplanned trip today to Atlanta, the week has almost passed me by and its only Tuesday!

On my way to the car today I noticed my first azalea (see above)! This is the only bloom in the whole yard! The Tulip Tree is blooming, slightly. It alway seems the get caught by the cold. I think that the snow day didn't help! In Atlanta the bradford pears were almost in full bloom in some areas and some cherry trees were begining to bloom. Here in Warner Robins the bradford pears are just begining to bloom. I checked my cherry tree, but nothing...

Has Spring Sprung??

Today has turned out to be a beautiful day! Who knew that we had snow last Sunday?! The Bradford Pears are starting to bloom and so is our Tulip tree! The Cherry trees can't be far behind...

I have been busy the past few day trying to finish an order for Polk's Fresh Market in Downtown Savannah. 530 East Liberty St. I sell my aprons there to the locals and tourist who wander in! And with St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, the apron business has picked up!!

I am hoping to make a daytrip on Saturday, drop them off, see my uncle who is in the hospital and come right back. It's only a 2 1/2 hour drive, hopefully the weather with be nice!

Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday!

Snow Day Part Two

Okay... So it stopped snowing around 1:30 or so. I was cold and decided to take a nap around 3. When I woke up an hour later this is what I found! I had to get my snow gear back on and go back outside and frolick! It was so pretty!! Now it looked like we had snow! The morning snow basically melted fast...by 1:30 there was not a drop of snow on my car. But now, Winter Wonderland! We are still under a winter advisory until midnight with total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches! Too bad it is now dark outside :( But it was fun while it lasted!!!

Snow Day

Just came back inside from "Playing" in the snow.. actually it was really just a walk! It has been snowing here since 9:30 this morning! It is not sticking very well since it was 72 degrees here yesterday and raining during the night! It is sticking on cars, roofs and some plants. Compared to more northern parts of the country it is not much, but to us it was exciting to see. The last time it snowed here was 2002. As I look out the window right now, it looks as if it has stopped. Maybe it will be back before long! Our only taste of winter and it will be almost 80 on Friday! Summer is almost here...
